The 6-year-old Cohen Bramley from the United States, who could not eat, became widely known two years ago. The little boy became a real celebrity, appearing on the covers of most major newspapers and magazines
The increased media attention to the unusual baby soon bore fruit: Cohen had fans who were always ready to help him, and the best specialists in the world became interested in his story. It was the beginning of a journey to a better one.
Cohen was born in Ohio, in the western United States. A perfectly healthy baby, he drank milk until he was four months old and felt fine. But when it was time to start introducing solid food into the child’s diet, the boy’s parents discovered an unusual feature in him – Cohen just couldn’t eat! Soon he couldn’t even drink milk.
The baby’s parents showed him to various specialists, but none of them could understand what ailment their little patient was suffering from.
As a result, up to the age of 6, the boy could not eat at all, and received all the necessary nutrients through an IV. This affected his metabolism, and Cohen’s weight began to increase. It was in this form that his photos splashed across the news media, making him an overnight celebrity.
Experts from a private university in North Carolina began to help the child. Doctors concluded that the disorder is so rare that it does not yet have a name.
Cohen spent several months at Duke University.
He was discharged in November 2019. In that time, the little guy has changed tremendously. He felt a burst of energy, and most importantly, he started eating a little bit! Habitual food helped normalize his metabolism, and Cohen’s weight began to decrease.
Within a year he got rid of six and a half extra kilos. Now Cohen was eight years old. And though he still often visits specialists, the boy spends most of his time at home with his family. He tries to walk as much as possible and loves to play outdoor games with friends.
