When more than one generation of people have lived in the house, there are many historical moments that attract the attention of others. After all, it is not in vain that every little thing attracts interest – for some it is an ordinary thing, and for someone a real find. The Sierra Vista couple had been putting off the question of renovating the house they bought back in 2009 for years.
That moment came in 2017 – better late than never. As the level of their relationship moved into official status, they needed to expedite the paperwork on the new home. But here began the fun part – the owners found the former owners’ stash. What was in there?
Bobby Capsidis, 34, and Megan, 31, had purposely taken time off work for the summer to do major renovations on the house. It was the most ordinary three-room house, with a small kitchen and a small yard. There were many similar houses next to the house, so it did not really stand out from them.
The only thing that stood out was the lack of repair work, because the front of the house was obviously worn out.Since there really wasn’t much time, Bobby decided to make a plan of action so that every day would have something to do. He wanted to start renovating the kitchen so his hostess could get down to cooking in the kitchen of her dreams, so even a late night did not stop him from starting.
He began to tear down the ceiling with a crowbar and saw, which looked like a “soviet time”. A lot of construction debris and dust was falling on his head, but that did not stop him from completing what he had started. But when Bobby saw an opening in the ceiling, he knew his efforts had not been in vain. In the attic, he found a crocodile-skin bag.
And even though it wasn’t attractive at all, Bobby realized that something valuable was in there. When Bobby and Megan began to open the bag, which had a crocodile snout and paws sewn on it, their surprise was limitless. In the bag was an old photo album that was supposedly made in the 1950s and 1960s. This became clear from the outfits the people were wearing. The photo showed the wedding ceremony with all the relatives. The bride and groom complemented each other harmoniously.
At least for Meghan and Bobby it was a good fit, but Meghan didn’t stop there. She took some scrapbook photos on her phone to make a social media post. The invitation card at the end of the album was very helpful – it listed the address where the event was taking place, but there was no such street anymore.Three weeks later, an elderly woman named Margarita responded to the post.
The woman herself came to them to get the find, because it was a real value for her. She tearfully looked at the photo, where she was depicted in a wedding dress. With nostalgia she recalled the guests’ outfits – the glittering jewelry, the boutonnieres, the wide lapels, the corseted skirts. You don’t see things like that today.
She commented only on the location of the ceremony, which was on the invitation card:
September 14, 1963, Saturday, for 3 p.m. Joseph Gajulo and Marguerite are waiting for their celebration, which will be held in Woodhaven, Queens, in New York. It’s her hometown, where she hasn’t been since her wedding.
Marguerite didn’t reveal anything else, as she considered it unnecessary, so for both Meghan and Bobby, and all readers on social media, the find remained a secret.
