The story began in a hotel near Taiwan’s Taroko National Park. A guest was strolling through the grounds of the park and found an old barrel. Inside was a haggard dog with serious wounds, one leg missing and the other badly damaged.
The woman couldn’t get past the poor animal and turned to the hotel staff for help. They helped her get in touch with local resident Sean McCormack, who helps animals in trouble. As soon as he got the message, he immediately began plotting a route to Taroko Park. However, he was faced with a difficult task – there was no direct route, he had to cross mountains that no one had ever crossed before.
Together with his friend Rose Tweedy, Sean built a route and struggled to get there. However, the dog was no longer in the barrel – only a couple of wisps of hair and drops of blood were found there. Sean decided not to give up and went to explore the surroundings.
It turned out that the exhausted dog was hiding under a pile of garbage. Sean called her over, and she struggled to get out of hiding. The guy immediately bandaged the dog’s wounds, wrapped it up and headed back to the vet clinic.
He immediately realized that the stray dog was caught in a trap set in the woods.
The rescued dog was named Sandy, and the poor thing sat patiently in Sean’s backpack the entire trip. Unfortunately, the vet was unable to save the dog’s leg, but a prosthetic can be fitted in the future.
Sean spread the word about Sandy and almost immediately she was able to find an owner. The dog now has a loving family, good food and a roof over his head!
