Johana Maritim Butuk, 99, who lives in Kenya, married his 40-year-old girlfriend, Alice Gemeli, after 20 years of dating. The unusual couple tied the bonds of marriage on January 14, 2023, in a colorful wedding ceremony in Soy, Uasin Gishu County.
It is noteworthy that the lovers first met in 2003 and have not parted since then, but then Alice was only 20 years old, although at that time Johan was already 79 years old and could be called a deep old man.
Nevertheless, there was a spark between them and their love story began, which eventually led to marriage.After 20 years of their relationship, Butuk decided to propose to Jemeli – this was in December 2022, and she said yes.
Johana said that in his 99 years he has not had a close spiritual relationship with women, and Alice was his first girl with whom he managed to live soul to soul, and then she became his wife. It is true that the groom had three children by different women from his past, but that made no difference to the bride.
The couple said their wedding vows at nearby St. Mark’s Catholic Church, and the locals who attended the ceremony described the ceremony as very colorful.
