We all experience grief differently. Some need to move on quickly and get rid of all traces of the person, while others retain the trace and need to manifest it. This man, for example, was devastated when his mother died and couldn’t deal with it.
He decided not to cut his hair again until his wife surprised him on their wedding anniversary. Tony and Kevin had known each other for 30 years. But for the past five years, Kevin hadn’t cut his hair. He had beautiful gray hair that went down almost to his waist and a white beard that would make Santa Claus turn green with envy!
Toni thought her husband looked like a member of ZZ Top or a biker. Fun-loving, Kevin explained on Rachael Ray and makeup artist Stacy London’s program why he stopped cutting his hair. “Almost 16 years ago I lost my mom to cancer. She was in the garden and asked me to cut the rest of her hair – that’s true – and after that my daughter cut mine before I went back to be with my mom and spend time with her.”
“When we lost her, I decided to grow my hair out and donate it to the Locks of Love charity. This is the fourth time I’ve done it.”
Toni wanted to give Kevin a makeover, but she was afraid of how he would look. She just hoped he would like the change. And when she saw it, she was amazed. Her hair had been donated to make a wig for a cancer patient.
Watch the couple’s reaction in the video below. Getting to know someone suffering from cancer brings a new perspective, and we can all help, especially by donating our hair when we can! What a wonderful gesture on Kevin’s part and what a transformation!
