Animal advocates love animals so much that they are willing to do amazing things just to save them. Today’s story is about how American volunteer Scott Poore came up with an ingenious idea to help a shelter dog that no one wanted to take in for over a year.
The three-year-old dog, named Quinn, was found by animal advocates near a garbage can and then taken to a shelter for homeless animals. At the shelter, Quinn was given a cozy, small kennel, where their first meeting with Scott took place. Scott has been helping the shelter take in homeless dogs for three years. He couldn’t take them back to his home, because he already had a dog that he rescued and took away from the shelter.
A year went by, and no one wanted to take Quinn home. Perhaps the reason is that this breed of dog is considered a fighting dog and people think that such dogs are aggressive and not affectionate inside. Quinn went feral in a year and became withdrawn, and that further diminished the chances of getting a home.
That’s when Scott had the genius idea to move in with Quinn to keep her company and help her open up to people.
The staff at the shelter, cringed at the idea and took a picture of Scott and Quinn sitting on the floor on a mattress and cuddling. Quinn was so happy to have a kind person by her side who treats her warmly and affectionately. There was nothing in the kennel except a small mattress, so Scott brought his table and chair so he could work on his laptop. The shelter staff posted pictures of Scott and Quinn in a group for homeless animals and wrote about their story.
So the very next day there were so many people wanting to take Quinn home with them. She became a star, thanks to Scott’s idea and photos on social media.
A good family came for Quinn and she went to a new home where she would be loved and appreciated. And Scott finally came home to his comfy crib. But Scott was very happy that Quinn had gained a home and loving owners, that his idea had worked.
