In 1989, in a small town in Florida, a passerby heard a soft cry coming from a garbage can. When he got closer, he found a baby and immediately called the police.
A Second Chance at Life
That’s when the story of Freddy Figgers began. His mother didn’t want him. She decided to get rid of him as soon as he was born. But fate gave the boy a second chance. He was taken to the hospital, where he was examined, and then sent to a shelter.
Two months later, the baby was adopted by his adoptive parents, Nathan and Betty Figgers, whose last name he bore. The story of his origin, they did not hide it from him. But Freddy still considers them family.
The beginning of a great journey
When he was nine years old, his father brought home an old non-working Macintosh computer, bought for only $25 at a thrift store. Nathan had bought it especially for Freddy, thinking that he would be interested in technology. And he was right.
He was so fascinated by electronics that he took it apart and put it back together again and again. Eventually he was able to repair the computer, while using additional parts from the radio receiver. By the way, Freddy still keeps this computer as a memory of the beginning of a great journey.
Owning his own business
His interest in computer technology grew every year. And by the age of 13, the boy was already very well versed in computers. With ease, he could fix them and configure them. He got a job at a computer repair service. By the time Freddy was 15, he started his own business, Figgers Computers. He was building servers and repairing and maintaining computers.
His business grew with great success, and Freddie felt he didn’t need college tuition. He learned from his own experiences. By the age of seventeen, he already had regular clients. He created websites for them and secured their data.
His first invention
Fate presented Freddie with another challenge that enabled him to develop his first invention. His father became ill. Doctors diagnosed him with incurable Alzheimer’s disease. With this illness Nathan could leave home and not know where he was going or could even forget his way home. To stay in constant touch with his father and track his movements, Freddy had an invented device – a GPS tracker – built into his shoe.
This development brought him two million dollars in 2012, when he sold a patent for her invention. Freddy invested the proceeds in the development of his own telecommunications company, Figgers Wireless, which is now valued at $62 million.
A tribute to his parents
Freddy always said in interviews that his adoptive parents believed in him and helped him develop his abilities. Always surrounded him with love and care. He speaks of them with great gratitude and warmth. His father passed away in 2014.
Now Freddy Figgers is developing technology like his “smart shoes” that help track a person’s location. Many of his developments are related to health care. Freddy also spends a lot of time.
