Jagtar Singh and Manjeet Kaur from India planned to have children right after they got married, but it wasn’t that simple. They had resigned themselves to no children after four years, when suddenly Manjeet joyfully announced that she was pregnant!
For the people of India children are not only heirs, but also helpers. If a boy is born, he helps his father to work in the fields or on the farm, and if a girl, some of the household chores will fall on her shoulders when she grows up.
The parents eagerly awaited the baby’s birth, and in the summer of 1996 they had a son. The boy was named Manpreet.Manpreet was born absolutely healthy, and his height and weight were quite in line with the average values. The baby boy grew and developed, at first he was no different from his peers.
But when Mangpreet turned one year old, Jagtar and Manjeet were concerned about their son’s growth, as the child had not grown at all in the past few months. The local doctor did not find anything unusual after the initial examination, but advised them to have a full examination at a clinic. But the family had no money for it, and everything remained as it was.
Time passed, and Manpreet’s height and weight hardly increased. The baby also could not learn to walk without adult support.
Manpreet Singh now
Now the Indian is 26 years old, but his appearance, height and weight have not changed much since childhood. At just over 60 centimeters tall and weighing less than 8 kilograms, Manpreet resembles an 8-month-old baby.
Medicine considers such a case very rare, with just over 230 recorded in history.
Manpreet has a younger brother and sister, but they are not affected by his peculiarity, their development is consistent with their age.
But even in spite of his peculiarity, Manpreet has become a real help to his parents. The fact is that the 26-year-old man, who looks like an 8-month-old baby, was perceived by the locals as nothing but a “messenger from on high.”
Neighbors come to Jagtar and Manjeet’s house every day to ask their eldest son to fulfill their most cherished wishes. They say that if Manpreet is given a present, their requests really do come true!
The doctors are confident that the man’s growth can be resumed. But Manpreet’s parents are no longer sure they want to. After all, what the result will be is impossible to predict.
