A motorcyclist was riding down a road in the Australian state of New South Wales when he witnessed an unusual sight. A herd of kangaroos was running along the open road, and suddenly something terrible happened. One of the animals lost a baby kangaroo out of its pouch and rolled over the ground. The mother did not notice the loss of the cub, and the animals quickly disappeared from sight.The biker stopped and walked over to the fallen kangaroo.
It was frightened and disoriented, it tried to run away, but could not yet jump well enough or even stand on its feet. The man managed to catch the cub and take it in his arms. He waited a while to see if its mother would come back for it, but it never did. The animal tried to escape from the motorcyclist’s hands, but then, realizing that the man had come to help, climbed up on his lap himself.The biker could not leave the helpless kangaroo to the mercy of fate and decided to take him with him.
He put the cub under his jacket and drove off. He found the nearest shelter on the map where he could take the kangaroo. It was about 80 km away. It was a long way, but the biker managed to get the animal safely to its destination. There he was received by a shelter worker and thanked his rescuer for his kindness. Skippy would undergo rehabilitation at the shelter and then, when he became independent, return to the wild. Biker continued on his way with a clear conscience, because thanks to his good deed the animal had been saved.
