This beautiful reunion story is about Michael Roberts who is an Air Force Sergeant, and his family. Roberts lately had to be away from his family for 15 months. It was a big challenge for all of them. But their reunion was in the most touching and beautiful way.
Challenging times
At first his couldn’t even imagine that they have to spend how 15 months apart from each other. They were so connected to each other and always spent important days together. They gave each other hugs very often, supported and spent so much time together just talking about their lives.
Everyday they had quick phone calls or FaceTime calls, and that helped them to not feel his absence that much, but it still wasn’t the same as seeing him in person. The family showed all their emotions but Sgt. Roberts thought it is better not to show that it was hard for him too and even in distance supported his family, while his mental health was not in a good condition too.
Coming back with a creative surprise
And when the awaited moment came Sgt. Roberts made a decision to surprise his family and not tell them the day of coming back. And the first part of his surprise was to see his oldest daughter. He decided to do it in school, at lunch. He was going to serve her lunch at school, and was sure that his daughter would never expect him appear there. And the moment came and his daughter couldn’t believe to see his father behind the glass and she just was shocked. Everyone where so emotional and applauded. Finally they were able to hug each other after 15 months!
She later said that it was the most surprising meeting of her life and she could never expect to see her dad serving her lunch. The teacher of her youngest daughter had her huge participation in this surprise since she asked children to learn about super heroes and share information about them. Then she told that she had a real superhero coming into class specially for that day, and he will tell you how it feels to be a hero.
Now Robert rejoined with his family too, and can spend so much time with them instead of all that missing days. They continue to make new good and unforgettable memories together. And let’s say a big thank you to Sgt. Roberts for his service!
