Alexis Brett is a unique mother in the United Kingdom. She became the first mother in the country to give birth to ten boys in a row. It happened because Alexis always wanted a daughter, but fate gave her sons.
Since 18 years she gave birth to them one by one, at 37 she gave birth to the last boy (by the way, they gave him a very unusual name for an Englishman – Rotagaid), the elder is now 18 years old. And now, when she finally accepted that she would not be a girl’s mother, and promised her husband that she was ready to give up her dream, life gave her a surprise – an unexpected, eleventh pregnancy.
“My husband and I thought it was going to be a boy again,” Alexis admitted. – Well, a boy it is, we’re used to it. And what a joy it was when it was a girl!” The happy mother named the baby girl Cameron. “Now I’m definitely going to stop! – Alexis, 39, laughs. – I think the family is complete already. Yes, I promised to stop last time, too, but now I’m totally serious. And actually, I want to go to work already.”
Alexis plans to return to her professional life soon-she used to work as a fitness instructor. Alexis and her husband have long been used to unflattering comments about their family. “A lot of people ask us if the government gives us benefits,” Alexis says. – No, we can’t even claim benefits. David has a good job, he’s a train driver.”
Being a mother of 11 children is not easy. But the boys are big now and help their mom with almost everything. “Of course, life is not all sunshine and rainbows, sometimes David and I look at each other, they say, what have we done, why did we have so many children, but fatigue quickly passes.
It would seem, what unflattering comments Alexis is talking about? After all, if the family is happy and doesn’t interfere with anyone’s happiness, what judgment can there be. It turns out that some people have found something to pick on in someone else’s family.
“If she wanted a daughter, what stopped her from adopting some child after two or three boys? If everyone had 11 children each, there goes the overpopulation of the planet.”
“Poor daddy. He looks like he lost his will to live about four kids ago. The kids drank all the life out of him.”
“I realize I have no right to judge them, but I still have the right to shake my head at this insanity!”
“Having so many children in today’s world is just ridiculous.”
And while people were divided into a condemning camp and a congratulatory camp, there were those with a sense of humor and observation: “Guys, it’s the Eleventh! That’s exactly what she should be called,” they joked, referring to the main character in the TV series “Very Strange Things.
