In some countries black cats bring good luck, in others they are considered a harbinger of misfortune. But for the heroine of this story, an animal that accidentally showed up at her house became a true friend.
Erin Nimrichter brought up her son Max on her own. Since childhood, the boy dreamed of two things: to serve in the Navy and to have a pet.
His mother did not support her son’s idea of a pet, but the boy found a way to change her mind. He assured that the cat is an independent creature that does not require much attention to itself. In addition, when he leaves to serve, a four-legged friend will brighten up the woman’s loneliness. And the mother agreed.
Coming to the shelter, mother and son noticed a miniature black cat named Yuki. The chosen one quickly got accustomed to the new owners. She had a great respect for Erin, and she loved Max.
After six months, the boy went to boot camp. During those 6 months the animal became very attached to the boy, and Erin frankly worried how the cat would bear a long parting with her son.
When Max left, Juki was pining. She spent hours lying on her owner’s pillow and staring at the front door. Several weeks passed and the cat came to terms with the long separation. She took more and more frequent walks and visits to Erin’s room.
One day the owner noticed the animal’s strange behavior. Yuki jumped on the chest of drawers and for a long time was looking at the picture of Max, carefully touching it with her paw. “Could it be that the cat recognized her master from this picture,” – Erin thought? To be sure, it was decided to conduct an experiment.
Quietly, without Yuki’s knowledge, Erin replaced the pictures, putting her son’s photo in a different place. And what was her surprise when the pet found the photo and sat down in front of her. Erin’s doubts fell away: The cat would really recognize Max. And then the woman decided to do something about it, before Yuki went to the rainbow from boredom.
As she pondered this, Erin noticed the backpack carrier. She decided to use it, and began to take her cat with her when she went out, whether it was shopping, sitting in a cafe or going to the movies. She took the cat outdoors more often, spending less time in her empty house.
So, wanting to distract the cat from boredom, the woman diversified her own life as well.
