It is not uncommon for pets to get lost. But it is also sometimes difficult to find an owner, but it is possible.A new pet.One day the shelter got a call and a woman reported that a sheepdog had been living near their house for four days. When they arrived, the shelter workers tried to get in contact with the dog, but the dog would stay away from them.
After half an hour the dog was caught and brought back to the shelter. The dog looked very well and was in good health. After an examination at the veterinarian, the sheepdog was given the name Gerda. But despite everyone’s efforts, the dog would not make contact. The volunteers were doing their best to help Gerda, but Gerda never spoiled them, neither the dogs, nor the cats, nor the humans.
Gerda looked at everything that was going on around her day by day and behaved in a reserved manner.
Shelter volunteers very often post ads for new pets in order to find their owners. Gerda was no exception. Over the past couple of years, several people tried to take Gerda, but the animal was only turned away from them. And shelter staff refused such new owners.
Constant publicity didn’t yield any results. But then one winter day, the shelter got a call and asked just for Gerda. The shelter staff could believe what they heard. The man told a very touching story and asked to come over. The next morning the man arrived even before the shelter opened and was already waiting at the gate.
After walking the man to Gerda, the staff opened the gate to let Gerda out. But just as she opened the hook, she dashed boldly toward the man. It seemed to be another of the dog’s happy days. The dog with tears in her eyes jumped on the man, who in turn caressed her back.It turned out the dog’s name was Fanya, she ran out of the car when the family came to visit.
The man himself lives about 200 km away from the city and his attempts to find his dog had been unsuccessful for a long time. Now Fanya has gone to her birth family, and the shelter staff are very happy that they were able to find a soul mate for the dog again.
