Is it possible to change a broken person by giving them a new life and opportunities? It is possible if he himself wishes to change and makes some effort to do so. But brothers of ours often don’t have that choice, they are totally dependent on humans, trusting and faithfully waiting for their owners, expecting boundless love from them.
They can’t choose a home, earn food or even complain about life. The fate of many animals is broken by man, and at the same time it takes away any hope of a further happy life. The same sad fate befell Clementina. Animal advocates found the exhausted dog on the roads of California. The dog had lost not only its appearance but also all hope for life.
Volunteers placed the foundling in a shelter, and veterinarians, after examining the animal, left a sheet with numerous diagnoses and susceptible to infections. The dog was not socialized, did not make contact, had little food and was considered hopeless.
For 6 months, animals found owners, but Clementine did not respond in any way to people coming in and remained at the shelter. Soon she was put on a waiting list to be put to sleep.A miracle happened two days before the scheduled procedure. Elisabeth Cossart came to the shelter with a strong desire to take Clementine home.
She was not embarrassed by the diagnoses and condition of the animal. She explained that she saw a photo ad on the shelter’s website and felt an irresistible urge to take the dog.
The house already had two dogs, Maple and Los, who happily accepted the new neighbor and helped her in every way to adapt to the new conditions of life.
For a long time Clementine was distant from her owners, she would only come to the food when they were away from her, she did not make a sound, but she did not resist the trips to the veterinarian, the medical treatment and the frequent walks. At first, the animal had to be taken out for walks due to its weak condition.
It took at least 7 months when volunteers, who had once rescued the animal, received a photo of Clementine next to her owners and other pets. The animal looked cheerful, healthy, moderately well-fed, with a smooth and shiny coat. It no longer looked like a battered, hunched over lump. Clementine was easy to communicate with the owners, walked independently in the territory, had a playful nature and resembled a curious puppy.
The owners were happy with their new pet, they never met a more affectionate, loyal and loving creature. The dog willingly helps around the house, bringing the necessary things. He loves to go for walks, following his owner’s exact steps, and he misses him immensely when the owners are away on business.
