Stories of canine loyalty are not fiction – some of the pets are so attached to their owners that they stay with them to the end, without regard to anything. Among these animals is a small, mongrel dog named Bobby, who lives in Argentina.The day that death took his beloved owner, three-year-old Bobby, was the saddest time in his life. The owner was gone forever, but Bobby’s love for him did not die. Trying to keep the memory of his happy days alive, the dog stayed by his owner’s grave in the Roca Cemetery in the Argentine province of Rio Negro.
The dog lay for a week without getting up, and then the deceased’s relatives took him back to their place, but the dog soon reappeared at the cemetery. He was taken away several more times, but each time Bobby found an opportunity to escape in order to return to the cemetery. Eventually the stubborn dog was left alone, realizing that he would not change his mind. That’s where he lives now, visiting the place where his master is buried every day.The sociable dog became friends with gravedigger Daniel Cisterna, who built a comfortable doghouse for him, and with animal advocate Adriana Carrasco, who took care of Bobby’s food.
The doggie’s act moved them to tears, and they try to take care of him as best they can.Every morning Bobby goes out to meet Daniel at the gate as soon as he hears the sound of his motorcycle, and then accompanies the man all day, wherever he goes.At the end of the day, the dog walks his new friend to the cemetery gate and back to his cabin.Soon Bobby became a local celebrity. The minute he sees the funeral procession, he joins it, as if he’s part of the group, or at least that’s how people think of him. He is nicknamed by locals as a comfort dog that provides emotional support to grieving people.Bobby has also become a symbol of loyalty and a reminder of how much dogs love their owners, even if their feelings are not visible at first glance.
