The fashion for mini-animals played a cruel joke on an American couple: they bought a mini-pig while traveling in Canada. Their act was spontaneous: Steve Jenkins and his wife were fascinated by the little pig, which they named Esther.
In addition, Esther fit in perfectly with their household, easily befriending the Jenkinses’ other pets – dogs and cats. The only thing that puzzled her owners was her appetite and the rate at which she grew. After two years, the adorable Esther had become a regular pig to be found on the farm. It weighed over 300 kilograms, and looked little like a pet.
However, the grown-up pig did not change its habits and character at all, remaining an affectionate and playful animal, and so after some deliberation the couple decided to leave everything as is.Now Esther still lives in the Jenkins home.
She is still friends with the cats and dogs, considering herself part of their pack. She likes to nap on the couch, and sometimes Stephen rests next to her on the floor.Over time, Esther has completely changed her owners’ lives.
The couple revised their views on their food system, switching completely to vegetarianism. They did this out of love for their piggy, who had become their most loyal friend. The couple even had a new purpose in life – they decided to create a shelter for animals in need of help.
