It would seem, well, what kind of difficulties can a three-year-old child have? However, sometimes the burden of a real adult falls on the shoulders of children. So little Luna Fenner from California had to endure a very difficult test.
The fact is that Luna was born with the so-called “Batman mask”. The girl’s parents, and American doctors were seriously concerned about the giant nevus on the child’s face, which not only caused aesthetic problems, but also could grow into cancer at any time.
Doctors in the U.S. were unable to treat the little girl. At one clinic after another, the doctors said that the child would not be able to withstand the numerous surgeries, and the amount of procedures was too impressive. But the girl’s mother, Carol, didn’t give up. She created a block in the social networking site, where she talked about her daughter’s diagnosis and asked for help.
After that, concerned people began to send thousands of letters of support. Even though people were kind and sincerely sympathetic online, as soon as the young mother went out into the street with her daughter, people started to shun her.
The worst situation happened once in church, where another little girl asked her mother what was wrong with the face of the moon, to which she heard the answer, “don’t look there, it’s some kind of Monster. It was truly horrible and cruel.
It’s worth noting that not only did Carol find support on social media, but she also got some real help. Luna’s story was brought to the attention of the Krasnodar oncology surgeon Pavel Popov. He suggested that the girl’s mother come to Russia for a consultation. In 2019, the family flew to Kuban.
There, the doctor performed a laser procedure to remove the birthmark.In total, Luna Fenner underwent 8 surgeries, both laser and skin grafting. When the little girl re-entered the U.S., no one close to her recognized her. In 2021, the girl was facing a new course of procedures, but already to smooth scars. Unfortunately, it never started for obvious reasons.
Of course, the girl’s parents believe that soon they will be able to completely transform the baby’s face, but they do not consider further treatment in Russia. We can only hope that all will be well in their family.
