Do dogs and cats never become friends? Many people still believe in this stereotype, but even pet owners are more often convinced of the opposite. But the history of friendship between a real lion and miniature dachshunds is really unique and surprisingly touching.
This story began several years ago, when a lion cub named Bondigger appeared in one of the private zoos. From the beginning, the baby had a rare bone disease. He also had an amazing disposition, and very soon made friends with Milo the dachshund, and then two more of her pals.Bondigger has a bone problem, so he can’t move around completely freely like other members of his species.
Milo and a couple of other ducks took care of the baby, who already in his childhood years surpassed them in size several times. Now the friendship of three ducks, each weighing up to 5 kilograms, and a lion weighing 226 kilograms attracts the attention of people outside the state of Oklahoma.
Even his own mother gave up on the tiny raptor. It was later discovered that he had osteoporosis. Still, the baby needed his mother’s affection, and that’s when Milo, who was a couple of years old when the story began, was hooked up with him.
Time passed. The baby was growing up. Foster mother and her foster child simply do not imagine life without each other. They ate, drank, and played together. Surprisingly, Milo was the third dachshund they tried to move in, but at first she was the only one who accepted the lion cub.
Now Milo visits her foster together with her friends. The lion weighing over two hundred kilograms feels how much bigger he is than his foster mom, and even when playing he shows incredible gentleness.
For five years now, no one can separate these friends; they are incredibly homesick without each other. Even when Milo is away from the enclosure for a short time, the meeting of friends is full of positive and bright emotions.
