Today I want to tell you the story of a girl with rare silver eyes, who became famous all over the world. The girl with silver eyes could not be happy about her abnormal eye color.
It was caused by a complicated condition that caused her a lot of pain. The only solution was called total blindness by the doctors. The girl had to have her silver eyes removed. The parents were shocked and could not agree. But time passed, and the 5-year-old’s pains increased…
Happy Family
Primrose was born in China. From birth, the little girl was blind. Whether that played a role in the fact that her biological parents gave her to an orphanage is unknown. Primrose was immediately referred to as “the girl with the silver eyes. For a long time no one wanted to take her into a family.
One day a couple from America, an Austin couple, saw her photo. They immediately decided it was their daughter. In 2016, the husband and wife officially adopted the girl. The couple has two biological children, who immediately accepted the baby girl as their own.
“There is nothing wrong with the fact that she is blind. We shouldn’t feel sorry for her. That’s what some people do when they find out their daughter is blind. They say, ‘I feel so sorry for you.’ But it’s not clear to me why,” says Chris, the girl’s adoptive father.
A tough decision for parents
Even at the time of adoption, Chris and Erin were told that the little girl had incurable congenital glaucoma. The disease also led to another complication: deafness. The piercing silver eyes brought the girl suffering and unbearable pain. She had a detached retina and high pressure in one eye, and the other had halved in size. Gradually her eyes became even more blurry.
Her parents went to doctors in the United States. Tests showed that Primrose has a rare syndrome that causes visual complications. The disease also affects brain structure and leads to a lack of muscle tone. Eight months ago, the child had a “crisis.” The girl cried for 16 hours a day. An MRI scan showed that her eyes were critically damaged. A decision had to be made that could completely change the baby’s life.
The doctors said they had to remove the silver eyes.
For her parents to agree to this was not easy. But they couldn’t bear to watch their child suffer. After the surgery, their daughter immediately went on the mend. She became active and started walking again. Now the girl is learning sign language for the blind, based on touch.
When the girl’s parents agreed to have her eyes removed, they didn’t know what the consequences of their decision would be. What Chris and Erin saw two weeks later made them believe in a miracle. Primrose began to smile; she was happy. And two days after surgery, she was able to get up, even though she had spent two months in bed before.
Eye implants will be made for Primrose, and her guardians are hoping for the best: “We hope that one day her biological parents will have peace of mind as they know their daughter is safe, growing up in a loving family and happy.”
