This story took place in Armenia, in the city of Spitak in 1988. In a few hours, the disaster turned a prosperous city into ruins with people left underneath. In the cemetery of Spitak since then there is a grave on which is written the name of the famous dog – “Zhuja. She was a scary mutt with a very unsweet character.
In the center of the story that made Zhuzhia famous is that terrible year 88, when the earthquake happened. The one-year old girl Lala, ten-year old boy Ruben and her parents lived on the first floor of an ordinary panel house. On the eve of the earthquake, Zhuzhya howled terribly, but people didn’t care about the bad mutt.
The next day, the earth shook. When the five-story panel building collapsed, like a little piglet’s house, blown away by a wolf in a well-known fairy tale. Little Lala rolled down the slab, and Zhuja managed to grab the little girl by the jacket and pulled just to the corner, which turned out to be relatively safe.
The dog put the girl on some rags, covered her with himself, and began to warm her up. Water was dripping in the basement, where the dog and the child were trapped. Zhuja drank it, and she gave Lala her milk. Just before the accident, Zhuja had become pregnant. As they were raking the rubble, people took moments of silence to hear those who were left under the rubble.
During this time, the Howler howled tearfully. But even now, no one cared about the silly mutt. So four days went by until Zhuja bit Lala’s leg in such a “quiet” corridor. The girl cried loudly, which saved her and Zhuja.
At that terrible time, Ruben and Lala were left without a mother and father, so the ten-year-old brother cried tears of joy when Lala was found. Now they were all living together with their grandparents. Zhuzhha lived in a loving family for twelve years, and when she died, the grateful children took her to the Spitak cemetery, signing the place of the last shelter as “Zhuzhha. This is how the whole world learned about the little mutt’s exploits.
