Claudio Vieira de Oliveira is the type of disabled person who leads a happy and relatively normal life despite many difficulties and is an example for many other disabled people.
His main disorder from birth is a crooked neck. His vertebrae are so deformed that his head is literally on its back, it is tilted backwards and upside down. His limbs also have no movement. In spite of this, Claudio was able to move around the house on his own, take care of himself completely and even use a computer.
This enabled him to have a profession and to support himselfThe doctors at the maternity hospital persistently persuaded Claudio’s parents to abandon him and they did not even see the point of feeding him. According to their predictions, a boy with so many abnormalities should have died in the first couple of months. However, the parents refused to keep their son, and as it turned out, for good reason.
Despite his physical defects, Claudio grew up as an intellectually advanced boy. He studied well, keeping up with healthy peers, made strides in creativity. As a teenager, he set a goal to learn to walk. To do this he had to learn to move on his hands and knees.
But now he was able to take care of himself. After graduating from high school, he chose to become an accountant. Working with numbers was easy for him. In addition, he could do his reports remotely, which was perfect for a disabled person. Even his need to type on the keyboard was viewed with humor and wit. To enter data, he uses a regular pencil. To do this he holds it in his mouth and presses the right buttons with it.
