Have you ever noticed that not all beaches are equipped for people with disabilities? This fact can be an unpleasant surprise and spoil your vacation. That’s exactly what once nearly happened to 95-year-old Dottie Schneider and her daughter Kimberly Waterbury.
Women decided to spend a week-long vacation on the beautiful Gulf Coast. Dottie, 95, hadn’t vacationed at the beach in a long time, as she can only move around in a wheelchair because of her leg failure. Her daughter decided to make a nice present for her mother and took her to the hot coast.
But here’s the trouble, on the first day the wheels of the wheelchair bogged down in the sand. Sandy beach just was not equipped with special paths that people with disabilities could get to the sun loungers. The vacation threatened to fail, but a lifeguard came to the rescue.
A man from a distance saw the difficult situation the ladies were in. He picked up the old woman in his arms and carried her to the place of rest, and then helped her daughter move the stroller. He also gave the number of his supervisor.
From that time on, the lifeguards agreed among themselves that every day one of them would help the old lady enjoy her vacation by taking her to a comfortable place on the beach. The women were very touched by this tin.
They were especially flattered when the entire lifeguard team gathered to see Dottie off on her last day and wish her a safe return home. Many of the guys confessed that they saw the sweet old lady as their grandmothers, and they had no trouble making her rest pleasant and comfortable.
The act of the rescuers once again makes sure that there is still a lot of room in this world for good. It would seem such a small thing, but how much it warms and pleases the soul, doesn’t it?
