India is a country with many customs and traditions that horrify the average person. One of them is throwing a baby from a height of 15 meters. This tradition is very old, more than 700 years old. It is also called “Flying Babies”.
It’s impossible to even think of a child flying down from such a height, let alone watch. But mothers or a priest do not hesitate to throw babies. Babies to be thrown must not be more than two years old.
This tradition is not followed in the whole country, but only in the state of Karnataka.
It is very important that the father, who is standing below, can catch his little treasure. Children are caught on an ordinary stretched sheet.
The ritual is performed annually in early December. Everyone gathers at the local temple. The saddest thing is that every year there are more and more families who want to test their children’s luck. They even come from other cities. But this cruel tradition can lead to unfortunate consequences. A child can be crippled, left disabled or dieal together. But the main question is: what is the purpose of this ritual after all?
Hindus are deeply convinced that this ritual will help to find happiness, health, good luck and prosperity.
The priest or mother takes the child by the feet, shakes him or her, and throws him or her head down from the roof of the temple. But such rituals often do not go smoothly, often bones are broken and internal organs are damaged.
There are a large number of people in India who are still against this gruesome ritual. These people are trying to get the authorities to ban this ritual, but so far it has not yielded any results
