Going through pictures of dogs at a local shelter in an attempt to adopt one, a Pennsylvania woman made an incredible discovery! She seemed to recognize her dog, Cova, who ran away from home two years ago.
In 2019, Covu, a cross between a pit bull and a Rottweiler, escaped through a hole in the fence made by a motorist. Aisha, his devastated owner, did her best to find her beloved dog, whom she adopted when she was only seven weeks old.
They were inseparable, she took him everywhere, and he even slept with her. Aisha didn’t know that her dog had been picked up by a shelter called the Lehigh County Humane Society. They found him stray and infested with fleas.
After curing him and getting him back on his feet, shelter volunteers found him a new family in October 2019. Unfortunately, fate was against Cove and he was returned to the shelter in June 2021 as his new owners faced eviction from their home. So Cove was returned to the list of dogs for adoption…
But that’s when the magic happened!
Two years later, Aisha wanted to adopt a dog again. So she went to a local shelter, which happened to be the Lehigh County Humane Society.
She was looking through pictures of various dogs when suddenly one in particular caught her eye. The animal bore a striking resemblance to her dog, Covey. She decided to contact the shelter and then go to the location to confirm her hunch.
Once there, her doubts dissipated, and she immediately recognized her dog, who had gone missing two years earlier, by the scar above her eye. The dog, too, seemed to recognize his master, and with all her might, she tugged at the leash that held it to head toward Aisha.
The dog barked and cried and finally jumped on Aisha, who then embraced her. Long minutes of hugging followed!
Just like that, Aisha and Covu are back together, and she made him a promise, “You’re coming home, I’m so sorry this happened. I will never lose you again!” A story with a beautiful ending, just the way we love it.
